Cath – Review of Bonds

“Refreshingly brilliant! I had been wanting to read this book for a while and I wasn’t disappointed.

Marie Anne Cope tells a refreshing and original tale, with interesting characters and a cleverly written story which takes place in two eras spanning 400 years.

This is my favourite genre, however, over the years it has become the same old coming of age story with a forbidden romance and it was losing its appeal.

Marie cleverly reminds us that vampires used to be human and have been “made” into these “monsters” they are now perceived to be. I felt this was a very creative way of getting the reader to relate to Anthony. After all, he is fighting for his own survival.

I also enjoyed learning about Becca’s background and her struggle to accept who she is, who her family are and were as well as the difficult situations she find herself in as a result of it.

All the main characters have been a pleasure to get to know as Marie has written them well and by giving them back stories she has given them depth.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre as it is a refreshing take on the age old tales told over the years. Thankfully I have already purchased the second book in the series, Broken Bonds, so I won’t have to wait long to see what happens next.”
